Day 23: Tabata Strength
After dragging my feet through the mud the past several days, Tuesday marked the day I returned to form with Tabata Strength. This workout has been one that I generally have dominated and I was expecting nothing less than significant improvement after a couple mediocre days (by my standards).I wasn't going to let the unfortunate news of the scale and Weep Time from Monday's Cardio Challenge day get to me. After hopping out of bed early this morning, I went right in to it, warming up with the utmost energy. With stellar Max Out Times from a week ago on Tuesday's Day 16 and Thursday's Day 18 I needed to be sure I was in the right state of mind to get over the hump.
My results showed I definitely was where I wanted to be. With no baby distractions and nothing but me (mind and body) and Shaun T, I was primed for improvement. My mentality going in, knowing there are no breaks -- just recovery moves -- was to make it to each recovery with little-to-no gas in the tank, to extend the Max Out Time as far as possible.
On Day 16, I had a Max Out Time of 14:14. Day 18, I improved to 19:40. Today, I had a slight drop off from the weekly rematch, but was improved on a Tuesday to Tuesday scale, going from the 14:14 mark to 17 minutes, 15 seconds -- a three minute, one second improvement (albeit a two minute, 35 second regression from the most recent Tabata Strength workout).
I'm setting myself up to reach 20-plus on the Max Out Time scale for the weekly rematch coming in two days. I should be able to make that time, easily (wishful thinking). Bonus of the day -- no Weep Time. I made it the entire 30 minutes without reaching utter discomfort. Not bad considering my Day 18 Weep Time was at 20:40. So at least there was some improvement. Next up: Sweat Intervals.
